Player Research

The Player Research page is the deepest analysis view in NBA Prop Lab. It brings together everything the engine knows about a player into a single scrollable page with six sections.

Navigate to a player’s research page by clicking any player name on the dashboard or by using the search bar at the top of the screen. The URL follows the pattern /research/player/{id}.

A sticky table of contents on the left side lets you jump between the six sections: “Context” (Contexto), “Picks” (Picks), “Teammates” (Compañeros), “Filters” (Filtros), “Props” (Props), and “Logs” (Logs).

The “Game Context” (Contexto) section at the top of the page shows the player’s upcoming game environment. Each element provides situational context that the scoring engine already factors into its analysis:

  • Matchup — team vs opponent with logos (e.g., LAL vs BOS)
  • Spread — point spread for the game, indicating blowout risk. Large spreads may reduce playing time for starters.
  • Total — over/under total points for the game. High totals suggest a faster-paced game with more scoring opportunities.
  • Pace — expected possessions per game for this matchup
  • Back-to-back badge — a “B2B” tag appears if the player is on the second game of consecutive days
  • Playoff badge — appears during postseason games

The “Model Picks” (Picks) section shows the engine’s analysis results for this player. Picks are displayed as a grid of pick cards, each showing:

  • Direction — Over or Under
  • Line — the prop line value
  • Score — 0-100 engine score
  • Rating emoji — visual indicator matching PREMIUM or STANDARD tier

This is the same data as the main dashboard pick cards but filtered to one player. See Pick Cards for a detailed breakdown of each element.

The “Teammates” (Compañeros) section shows how the player’s stats change when key teammates are in or out of the lineup. Comparison cards are displayed for:

StatDescription
PointsScoring average with/without teammate
ReboundsRebounding average with/without teammate
AssistsAssist average with/without teammate
TriplesThree-point makes with/without teammate

Each card shows the difference — a positive number in green means the player does better without that teammate; a negative number in red means worse. The label format is “without [teammate]” (sin [compañero]).

The “Situational Filters” (Filtros) section provides toggle filters that let you view the player’s stats in specific situations:

  • Home / Away — performance split by home and away games
  • Regular / Playoffs — performance split by season phase
  • Back-to-back — performance on second nights of back-to-backs
  • Window tabs — L5, L10, L15, L20, All (last 5/10/15/20 games or full season)

Use these filters to spot situational strengths or weaknesses not immediately visible in season averages.

The “Props of the Day” (Props del dia) section shows today’s available prop lines for this player, grouped by stat type. Each prop entry displays:

  • Line — the consensus line value
  • Line movement indicator — arrow showing if the line moved up or down from opening
  • Hit rates — percentage of games the player went over the line in L5, L10, L15, and Season windows

For a deeper dive into the props section including sportsbook odds and the preference selector, see Props.

The “Game Logs” (Ultimos 15 partidos) section is a table of the player’s last 15 games with the following columns:

ColumnDescription
DateGame date
OppOpponent team abbreviation
MINMinutes played
PTSPoints scored
REBTotal rebounds
ASTAssists
3PMThree-pointers made
STLSteals
BLKBlocks
PRAPoints + Rebounds + Assists combined

You can add personal notes to any player research page. These are saved to your account and visible only to you. Use them to track your own observations, injury updates, or situational context the engine might not capture.
